PELICAN HYDROELECTRIC UPGRADE

The Pelican Hyrdoelectric Facility was constructed in the early 1940's and supplies electric power to the community. This project will replace the existing intake, wood flume and wood stave penstock with a new intake and HDPE penstock for continued reliable opertion.

The project is funded by the Denali Commision and administered by the Alaska Energy Authority.

Polarconsult is providing the engineering design of the upgrades to the intake, wing wall, penstock and surge tank as a consultant to Alaska Energy and Engineering who is designing upgrades to the switchgear in the Hydroelectric Power Plant and interconnection to a new diesel generation plant in the community.

The project is being constructed by the City of Pelican with project manaagement by CE2 Engineers.
